PCEA RUIRU Regulated NWDT Sacco Limited (“us”, “we”, or “our”) is a Sacco regulated by SASRA to offer financial services. We operate https://pcearuirusacco.com website, which provides more information of us and our various services /facilities as well as the MY RUPSA Mobile App mobile application (the “Service”).

As an organization, we take our responsibility regarding the management of our stakeholders’ data very
seriously. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Services sets out how we manage our responsibility in the use of your data and the choices you have associated with that data.

We use your data to provide and improve the Services. By using these Services, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Unless otherwise defined in this Data Privacy Policy, terms used in this Data Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions. While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you (“Personal Data”). We may use your Personal Data to contact you with newsletters, marketing or promotional materials and other information that may be of interest to you.

We collect several different types of information for various purposes in order to provide and improve our Service to you including Names, I.D./Passport Number, Date of Birth, Gender, Marital Status, Biometric Data, Property Details, Postal Address, Telephone Number.

In processing personal data, PCEA Ruiru Sacco shall be guided by the principles of data protection as captured in the Data Protection Act, and requires the Sacco to ensure that personal data is:
a. Processed in accordance with the right to privacy of the data subject;
b. Processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner in relation to any data subject;
c. Collected for explicit, specified and legitimate purposes and not further processed in a manner incompatible with those purposes;
d. Adequate, relevant, limited to what is necessary in relation to the purposes for which it is processed;
e. Collected only where a valid explanation is provided whenever information relating to family or private affairs is required;
f. Accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date, with every reasonable step being taken to ensure that any inaccurate personal data is erased or rectified without delay;
g. Kept in a form which identifies the data subjects for no longer than is necessary for the purposes which it was collected; and
h. Not transferred outside the Sacco and the country, unless there is proof of adequate data protection safeguards or consent from the data subject.

PCEA Ruiru Sacco may collect and use Data Subject’s personal data:
a. If it is necessary for the Sacco’s legitimate interest and so long as its use is fair, balanced and does not unduly impact data subject’s rights.
b. With the Data Subject’s consent. For example, to send marketing emails, to take and use a data subject’s photograph, to collect relevant medical information. The data subject can withdraw consent for this at any time.
c. As required to fulfil the Sacco’s legal obligations as a registered Non Deposit Taking Sacco Society. This includes sharing personal info with bodies such as SASRA, Ministry responsible for co-operatives, NSSF, NHIF, Courts, Police, EACC, CRBs, among other legal/statutory bodies.
The Sacco will only process sensitive personal data if it has data subject’s explicit consent. In extreme situations, the Sacco may share data subject’s personal details with the emergency services if it believes it is in data subject’s ‘vital interests’ to do so.

As a Data Subject you have the following Rights as set out in the Data Protection Act No. 24 of 2019:

  • The right to be informed of the use of your information/data.
  • The right to access, update or to delete the information or data in our custody.
  • The right of rectification. You have the right to have your information/data rectified or deleted if that information is misleading, inaccurate or incomplete.
  • The right to object. You have the right to object to our processing of your Personal Data.
  • The right of restriction. You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal information.
  • The right to data portability. You have the right to be provided with a copy of the information we have on you in a structured, machine-readable, and commonly used format.
  • The right to withdraw consent. You also have the right to withdraw your consent at any time where PCEA Ruiru Sacco Society Limited relied on your consent to process your personal information, without any detriment to your interests.
